An online marketplace is a website where products or services are offered by various 3rd party vendors, but the transactions are hosted by the actual website. Marketplaces have the advantage of selling a large variety of products, on different price points, by different sellers. A few examples of online marketplaces are Amazon, eBay, Rakuten and Zalando.
